Awesome Carrot Recipes For Your Dog

Recipe #1: Dog Muffin with Carrot

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour (whole wheat)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup wheat bran
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (non-aluminum)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups of carrots
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • Dog treat icing (optional)

Directions:

  1. Whisk together the honey, egg, oil, and milk in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix all of the remaining (dry) ingredients.
  3. Pour the liquid components into your dry ingredients mixture and stir until all of the dry ingredients are wet.
  4. Spoon the batter into the oiled muffin pans, filling them three-quarters full. Alternatively, line your pans with cute paper wrapping.
  5. Bake for approximate 15-20 minutes for tiny muffins or 25-30 minutes for large muffins at 375 ° Fahrenheit
  6. The muffins are done when you can insert a toothpick in the center, and it comes out clean with no batter stuck to it.
  7. Remove the muffins from the oven and set them aside to cool fully.

Your dog muffins should be stored in an airtight container inside your freezer or refrigerator. If you leave them at room temperature, they will develop mold since they are soft treats with moisture, unlike hard dog biscuits.

Recipe #2: Dog Treats with Carrots and Peanut Butter

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup carrots, grated
  • 3/4 cup chunky natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup water
  • two eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons of whole wheat flour (or more as required) (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 ° F with racks in top and bottom thirds (175 degrees C). Line two baking pans with baking paper.
    1. In a large mixing basin, whisk together shredded carrot, applesauce, peanut butter, water, pumpkin puree, and eggs until fully blended. With a firm spoon, stir in your flour and cinnamon until well combined. Two tablespoons at a time, add remaining flour until dough stays together well.
    1. Roll out the dough until it reaches 3/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured board. Make sure it’s even before cutting with 3/4-inch cookie cutters. Place them on the baking paper at half-inch distance because they will expand in the oven.
    1. Bake 2 sheets for 6 minutes inside a preheated oven. Switch the racks and bake for another 6 to 7 minutes, or until edges are crisp or golden brown (the surface may still seem puffy). Remove from the oven and cool for 3 to 5 minutes on the baking sheets before taking them out to cool fully.
    1. Bake and chill the rest of the dough.

Recipe #3: Dog Treats with Carrots, Spinach, and Zucchini

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
    • 1/4 cup peanut butter
    • 2 big eggs
    • 1/2 cup oats
    • 3 cups of whole wheat flour (or more as required)
    • 1 peeled and shredded carrot
    • 1 shredded zucchini
    • 1 cup chopped baby spinach

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 ° Fahrenheit. Set aside a baking sheet lined with baking paper or a baking mat.
  2. In an electric mixture’s bowl equipped with a paddle attachment, beat the pumpkin puree, eggs, and peanut butter, on high for 1-2 minutes or until thoroughly blended.
  3. At low speed, gradually add oats and 2 1/2 cups of flour, mixing just until combined. Add a quarter cup of flour at a time until your dough is no longer feeling sticky. Beat in the carrot, spinach, zucchini until barely combined.
  4. Knead the dough 3-4 times on a lightly floured surface until it comes together. Roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness using a rolling pin. Cut out preferred forms using cookie cutters and set them on the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, just until the edges of the treats are golden brown.
  6. Set aside to cool fully.

Recipe #4: Carrot Chips or Crackers

Have a habit of putting carrots in your morning smoothie? Well, the pulp leftover from juicing can be used to make delicious dog treats too! Serve it as a yummy cracker to your pet friend:

  1. Combine three cups of pulp from carrot juice and 1/2 cup of flaxseed in a blender.
  2. Add enough water to make the pulp spreadable.
  3. On a baking paper or dehydrating sheet, pour the mixture to approximately a 1/4-quarter inch thickness and cut it into squares.
  4. If you are using a dehydrator for the treats, dehydrate for roughly six hours at 120 ℉, then flip them and dehydrate for an additional four hours.
  5. Place them in the oven on the lowest setting possible with your oven door slightly ajar if you don’t have a dehydrator. When you are using an oven instead of a dehydrator, the timing will be altered. Check them occasionally to see if you need to dehydrate them for less than 4 hours.
  6. To keep them crispy, store them in an airtight container.
  7. To create carrot crisps, use our zucchini crisps method, but instead of cutting the carrots into disks, slice them long and thinly. This is a task that a peeler excels at.

Although most dogs like carrots, if yours is a picky eater, there will still be methods to include carrots in their diet. Cut them into sticks and immerse them in boiling water with rich chicken stock until they are cold. Then drain them and store them in zip-lock bags for a quick snack or training reward on the move.
